How Can Balanitis Be Treated?

I have been diagnosed with balanitis 10 days ago, Dr told me to apply zinc oxide 2/3 times daily. Not much effect. Occurred after a 10 day treatment with Cephalexin for a leg wound. I had an upper respiratory infection on Memorial weekend so I started a course of Azithromycin. That doesn t seem to help either although I don t have the chest infection. Plan to see the doctor next week what do you think?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

If the infection persists, you have to take antibiotics preferably Ciprofloxacin for symptomatic relief.

Apply Neosporin ointment after cleaning with soap and water.

If you have recurrent episodes, you can consult a urologist and plan for circumcision.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
