Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern

1. In Barrett's Oesophagus the normal squamous cells are replaced with columnar cells which although are benign but have increased risk of developing cancer of the esophagus thus regular endoscopies to detect precancerous changes in the cells of the esophagus is mandatory.

2. As far as management is concerned medical treatment is directed towards the suppression of acid reflux commonly associated with the condition like:

- avoid forward bending immediately after meals
- head end elevation
- bland and soft diet, more of milk, avoid hot drinks and spicy foods
- Mucaine gel [antacid + aesthetic] 2 tablespoon 2-4 hourly

3. Since barrett's oesophagus is associated with weight loss, vomiting of blood, difficult swallowing you should consult a Bariatric Doctor to exclude any other cause of Weight GAIN, as a specialist he/she should be able to give you up-to-date information on the pros and cons about the various treatment options.
