How Can Blood Pressure Levels Be Kept Under Control While On Coreg?

Yes, I have 2nd degree av failure secondary to symptomatic hyponatremia that required a pace maker. I take 40mg of Lisinopril, 10mg norvasc and am prescribed 6.25 mg of coreg 3 times a day. I can take the coreg twice a day no problem which brings my blood pressure 140 over 70...any tips for being able to take the coreg without intolerable?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

To be very honest Coreg is not a very good drug for control of hypertension, so if you have any serious side effects with this it can be stopped altogether, especially if you have heart block, then Coreg is better, rather must be, avoided. If BP is not controlled, we can add a Thiazide Diuretic instead of Coreg.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Rahman
