How Can Blood Pressure Levels Be Kept Under Control?

I am having trouble regulating my blood pressure, Right now I am on 100 mg of metoprolol and 20 mg of amlodipine and my blood pressure is running in the 170 s over the 70 s. Amlodipine doesn t seem to have any effect on me at all and I think I am maxed out on metoprolol. I need something to control my systolic highs.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

High blood pressure (BP) treatment requires multiple approaches:
• Measure your BP for at least 1 week, record the results to pass to your doctor in order to change the therapy.
• Medications: Metoprolol, amlodipine. If persistently high BP, then other drugs should be added (e.g., Enalapril or diuretics like HTCZ).
• Diet changes: Reduce salt intake.
• Regulating stress levels: Sometimes taking chamomile or Valeriana supplementation can help.

Discuss this further with your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini
