How Can Bronchitis During Pregnancy Be Treated?

Pregnant in my third trimester and have been sick for the past 10 days, nothing seems to work . I was first told it was para-influenza and now bronchitis, and as a result I am not sleeping and extremely uncomfortable. what can or should I do to get some relief? I feel as if I tried everything.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Bronchitis during pregnancy can be quite a distressing situation. Regular steam inhalation with menthol will help to clear the respiratory tract. If you still do not get relief you may have to take an antibiotic course.

Since many antibiotics are contraindicated during pregnancy, you should consult your gynaecologist for a safe antibiotic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma Amman
