How Can Bruising On The Thumb Be Treated?

Hi Doctor 6 days back while goalkeeping the ball hit hard straight away came and hit my thumb.Though it swelled up in an hour but went down to normal in 2n hlf days. I face problem in applying effort with the thumb and the skin has darkened in colour and is peeling off.Although there s no pain in moving it anyway. I used dynapar gel and also treated it with hot water-salt solution. Is it a fracture?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for your question. I do understand your pain and discomfort.

1) as per your history Do RICE (Rest, ICE, Compression, Elevation), take a [ACEKEM-SP tablet] for inflammation.

2) Do X ray to ruled out fracture if no fracture present give compression in surgical tape by comparing other thumb and give rest until heal the ligaments properly. You can watch you tube video regarding bandage.

I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
