How Can Burning Sensation In The Foot Be Treated?

Hi I broke my 5th metatarsal 3 weeks ago. I was non weight bearing for a week but had to go back to work standing for several hours at a time. I m in a boot and now I have a burning sensation that is relentless. Any suggestions? I do the ice and elevating all the time. The burning is just too much.

Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to the trauma. I would recommend using anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen three times a day.

I also recommend using anti-inflammatory creams for local application and cool compresses.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
