How Can Burning Sensation In The Mouth And Chest Be Treated?

Hi, My name is Donna, I went to a new MD on this past Wed and my BP was196/100 while on Metoprolol Tartrate 25 mgs 2x daily. She changed my medication to Amlodipine Besylate 5 mgs as well as Citalopram 10 mgs (anxiety). I took both pills starting Wed night and by Thursday night I was having horrible symptoms. Anxiety, restlessness, nausea, vomiting (aggravating my acid reflux), could not sleep - so, after taking the Citalopram for 3 nights, I stopped and am just taking the Amlodipine 5 mgs. Now I m having this horrible burning in my mouth, throat and chest. I m starting to panic. What should I do?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* As per my clinical knowledge, burning chest is partly due to underlying stress, gastritis and flushing side effect of Amlodipine.

* I recommend to re visit your consultant for further prescriptions of antacid, anti anxiety medicines, counseling and other supportive care.

Hope this information will prove useful for you.
Thanks for taking time evaluating my answer.
