How Can Burning Sensation In The Vagina Due To Nair Application Be Treated?

I used nair on my outer vulva to remove hair. I think some may have migrated now I have intense itching and burning, I tried putting an ointment on to help heal the raw sking but it got worse so I thought it was a yeast infection so I got vagisil but it made it even worse. How can I calm the burning and get some relief until I can get into a Dr. Are there any suggestion you have for me?

Hello,

Wipe off the excess gently, rinse it all off in the shower, apply a cold washcloth and combine water with baking soda to neutralize the acid burn, rinse, gently dry, and apply “acid mantel cream” which will rebalance your pH and/or a petroleum-based ointment like Neosporin (or Vaseline).

Apply a 1 percent hydrocortisone ointment to calm the redness, "Nair should NEVER be used close to your genitals.

It's fine around the bikini line area (right where your underwear or bikini would end and hair may show).

But otherwise: keep it away!

The main ingredients in Nair (and products like it) are calcium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide - otherwise known as lime and lye! They work by breaking down the structural bonds holding your hair together - and your skin.

Drink a lot of water. You’ll pee more, but it'll dilute your urine which will make it burn the irritated skinless.

Next time opt for a wax. It's somewhat painful at the moment (until you get them frequently enough) but otherwise, it's no pain at all!

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
