How Can Bursitis Of The Hips Be Treated?

Dear Dr. Rynne: Please explain bursitis of my hip and how to remedy the pains. I have received cortisone shot from orthopedic m.d., am getting PT, use ice and a cane. Is there any help for a rather permanent remedy? Also, I do not understand where these bursars are located relative to hip bone. Thank you, Kathleen FitzGerald

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I have evaluated your query in details.

An MRI of the hip joint is a must to answer the query thoroughly, though if conservative measures are not responding to that level best, the best solution would be total hip replacement and cure.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
