How Can Cervical Spondylosis Be Treated?

I HAVE LUMBAR AND CERVICAL SPONDYLOSIS AND CURRENTLY HAVE RUPTURED DISC FROM L5-S1. WHICH TEST WILL DETERMINE IF I SHOULD RETIRE NOW OR LATER (2 YEARS) FROM WORK WHERE I SIT, STAND, PUSH, BEND, AND WALK A LOT. EMG OR A FIT TEST? I HAVE SCIATICA AND PLAN TO GET AN ESI. HAD 5 INJECTIONS LAST YEAR TO RESOLVE SCIATICA AND THEN STARTED PT WHICH I BELIEVE EXACERBATED THE LUMBAR AREA AGAIN. NOW WITH RIGHT LEG NUMBNESS. TINGLING AND PAIN. NUMB 4TH AND 5TH TOES.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I can understand your concern. As per your history as you have cervical and lumbar spondylosis. So, I would suggest you to do MRI neck and back region to see the severity of the disease. You can use cervical and lumbar belt. Don't give strain on back and neck. You may require tablet Pregabalin and multivitamin containing vitamin B12, tablet calcium and Vitamin D3 supplement after consultation with your doctor.
kindly consult with orthopedician for detailed examination.

Thank you.
Take care.
