How Can Chest Congestion Along With Body Ache And Fever Be Treated?

My husband has had flu like symptoms for the past couple of days. Started out with congestion in his chest, now he is achy, runs a fever off and on, now it has turned into diarrhea, which has been for 24+ hrs. All he will take is aspirin. He won t take anything for the diarrhea. Says he needs to get it all out of him . I think he is getting dehydrated, even though he has been drinking water.

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Diarrhoea is commonly seen with viral infection.
This kind of diarrhoea are usually self limiting.
The main concern is dehydration.
So tell him to drink oral rehydration solution (ORS) and zinc tablet.
Avoid oily and spicy food. Avoid junk food.
He can aldo take curd, yogurt and fruit juices.
So chest congestion, do warm water gargles and steam inhalation 4-5 times a day.
Give him antihistamine (levocetrizine) twice daily.
He will mostly improve with all these in 2-3 days.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your husband. Thanks.
