How Can Chest Congestion In An Infant Be Treated?

What can I give my 4 month old baby. She was in hospital 6 weeks ago for pneumonia and RSV, she got better but still hasn t fully recovered. She is still very chesty and wakes up blocked up every morning. She doesn t have a high temperature. I ve had her at the GP twice, and he says she s fine, but to me it doesn t seem fine.

Hello,

You can give her antihistamines such ketotifen to ease congestion.
Also, you can help her doing aerosol with clenil to help her breathing.
She has just finished the antibiotic treatment in a hospital so no antibiotics should be given to her.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
