How Can Chest Heaviness And Cough, After Recovering From Cold, Be Treated?

for the past few days, I ve had this heavy feeling in my chest and i have a non-productive nagging cough that comes and goes. A couple weeks ago, I had a bad cold that kept me in bed for a couple days, but I thought I was over that because the symptoms were gone away for about a week before this current episode started.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I am sorry for the bad cold you've gone through. I am happy that it is all over.

Sometimes, a nagging non productive cough is present after cold is over. This is due to inflammation of upper respiratory tract from the virus.

Take antihistaminic meds like Benadryl or loratadine.
Apply vapu rub on the chest and upper back to open up the airways.
Aerosole therapy can help.
Increase fluids intake.

If the coughing won't get better within the next week, should consult with your physician to rule out more serious respiratory problems.

Wish fast recovery.
