How Can Chickenpox Infection Be Treated?

Hi
My younger brother got chicken pox and doctor prescribed him Ocuvir DT 400 and avil tab in early signs are they safe?.
As one of my Doctor friend employed in govt hospital advised me take it on your own risk we doctors in govt hospital dont prescribe such tablets.
So i am confused what to do please advise.

I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

Ocuvir is the brand name of antviral drug called acyclovir. It is a relatively safer drugs and side effects are minimal.
Chicken pox is a self limiting disease and symptoms will subside with in a week even with out treatment.
Acyclovir(ocuvir) is the drug of choice for chicken pox and he can continue the same with out any fear. It is a costly drug that might me the reason why government doctors wont prefer the drug.
Avil tab is given for itching.
Drink plenty of water to keep him re hydrated.
Keep in mind that chicken pox is a contagious disease, so isolation of the patient is important.
