Hello,

Shivering and chills are seen in bacterial infections like listeria, pneumonia and urinary tract infections (UTIs), cancers, such as leukemia, drug withdrawal (substance abuse), hangover, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) in people with diabetes, menopausal night sweats or hot flashes, panic attacks, parasite infections like giardiasis, sepsis, viruses, including those that cause the flu, patients after general anesthesia, post traumatic stress disorder, dengue fever and malaria.

Treatment depends upon the cause. You need to undergo some tests like complete blood picture, peripheral smear, complete urine examination, ESR, CRP, kidney function tests, and liver function tests. For immediate relief of shivering and body pains, you can take NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Please do consult a physician for detailed clinical examination and appropriate treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
