You need to consume a high complex carbohydrate (high fibre) and a moderate protein diet. Cut down on your intake of fats and oils/ as well as simple sugars as your triglycerides are high. It affects your liver health too. You need to avoid foods which are bad for the liver health, like too much of spicy and oily foods like rich gravies/oily and spicy curries. Cut down on your intake of saturated fats (red meat, egg yolk, milk cream, butter, ghee and margarine) to lower cholesterol. If you are a non-vegetarian, you can include fish, especially fatty fish as it helps in lowering triglycerides. Fat present in fish is good for heart health. You can also have chicken without skin and eggwhites. Avoid organ meats which have a high cholesterol content.

Include plenty of whole grain cereals, like whole wheat products, like broken wheat porridge or dalia, whole wheat bread, whole wheat chapati or bran containing products, oats and oat bran which helps to lower cholesterol. You can also have brown rice/partly milled rice or parboiled rice instead of white polished rice. Avoid too much of starchy foods like white rice, white bread, potatoes, refined white flour or maida products, bakery items like cookies, pastries, cakes and cream rolls, sweets, semolina or suji etc.

Have fresh fruits instead of fruit juices and vegetables cooked in less oil and raw vegetables as salads. Avoid oily dressings on salads. Instead use lemon juice or vinegar as dressings if needed.

Include plenty of fibre rich nutrient dense foods like sprouted grams like whole green gram and whole bengal gram.

Increase your physical activity by brisk walking for 30-45 minutes daily or atleast 5 times a week. Try to remain active throughout the day and spend less time in sedentary pursuits like TV viewing, Computer use etc. De stress by meditating or engaging in any activity that you enjoy like listening to music, reading, playing with pet, by simply relaxing.
