Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your wife has symptoms of a cough and wheezing, which seems to be due to severe upper respiratory tract infection and gets triggered by exposure to allergens. I would suggest you to :

- Do warm saline gargles with a pinch of salt water.
- Avoid cold carbonated beverages.
- Mast cell stabilizers such as sodium cromoglycate are effective to prevent infection.
- Take cough expectorants.
- Take Benadryl twice a day.
- Steam inhalation is very effective for you.

You should consult ENT specialist once without any delay. The doctor may order a blood test, a throat swab test and may prescribe a proper antibiotic course along with anti-inflammatory medications.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
