How Can Chronic Bronchitis With Low Grade Fever Be Treated?

I have had chronic bronchitis for 4 months. My physician has tried multiple treatments: Z-pack, duravent, leviquin. Currently taking Singulair, Robitussin (for expectorant) & using inhaler 2x/day. Symptoms include coughing up yellowish mucus. It s thick & in some cases includes little round bits. Do I have something other than bronchitis? Have had very low grade fever a couple of times during this. My BP is fine. I am regrettably overweight, due in part to inability to exercise b/c of coughing. Thank you.

Hello,

I think you should get further evaluated because the problem may be related to another underlying issue. Do a bronchoscopy to get evaluated.

If it is still bronchitis consider using corticosteroids and antibiotics as advised by the antibiogram of sputum.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
