How Can Chronic Constipation Be Treated?

I need a specifc high fiber diet to help with serios chronic constipation, I m in a lot of pain when using laxatives and have had 2 gastroenterologists and and colonoscopies. The last one showed diverticulosisi. I m on lots of medications especially especially oxycodone 7.5 mg twice a day for chronic back pain. I ve tried different prescriptions you see on T.V. and nothing helps. I want to see a nutritionist and get a specific diet and really try to get the fiber in me, What do you think ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I suggest you have a lot of fruits and vegetables and mainly green leafy vegetables. Also you can add oat bran, brown rice and brown pasta. Also, drink a lot of water more than 8 glasses of water per day. Use green tea.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
