How Can Chronic Constipation Be Treated?

my dad is 88 and constipated. I have been giving him benefiber and stool softeners for the last five days. today I gave him two doses of laxatives (one in the morning and one in the evening) as well. He is miserable and feels like he has to go, but nothing is moving.

Consult a gastroenterologist and plan for a colonoscopy to rule out any tumor or mass in the large bowel or rectum.

As of now, continue laxatives and include more fiber-rich foods in the diet.
