How Can Chronic Constipation Be Treated?

Hi, I ve had chronic constipation for years, I m an almost 49yr old female! And for years I have tried everything, my doc has said drink more water, exercise more, eat more fiber and well to no avail or very very temporary. The symptoms have been getting worse probably due the use of laxatives. So my question is how hard should i push to get a referral to a specialist and what type of specialist should i see?

Hello,

Get a CT scan abdomen done to know if there is any stricture in the intestine or any other condition causing you constipation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Archana
