How Can Chronic Cough And Chest Congestion Be Treated?

My daughter is 4 years and 2 months. She had wheezing and congested chest about 3 weeks back. On doctors directions we gave ventolin, pulmicort, antibiotics and antihistamine.

Although the cough has reduced she still has not recovered completely. The cough increases especially when she is asleep.

She is on montelukast ( 3 months). What should I do next?

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have chronic cough and chest congestion which is due to chest infection. Need not to worry much. Avoid taking cold carbonated beverages.Visit pulmonologist once and get it examined. You should get X-ray chest done. You should go for pulmonary function tests as well to check exact level of infection. You need inhaled bronchodilators and antihistamine drug. You should use mist humidifiers in room. Take steam several times a day , which will be very helpful and take anti histamine .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
