How Can Chronic Cough And Muscle Weakness Be Treated?

10 years of un diagnoses except diabetes, peripheral neuropathy. Now occasional cough is worse & productive. Can barely walk because of muscle weaknesses. Private doctors & VA doctors unable to help. Latest drug which we were so hoping would work @ $485.00 put me in ER. Also another thing over looked was a problem of swallowing food even if its small & pills.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Difficulty in swallowing can be serious. I suggest you to consult a gastroenterologist for upper GI endoscopy. For muscle weakness you need to consult a neurologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
