Hello,

I'm unable to examine you directly or taking a detailed history thus following is my opinion:

It could be possible that you are actually suffering from an upper respiratory problem [sinusitis] for which consultation with an ENT physician is essential.

CT scan of the sinuses can help confirm the diagnosis, until then:

- steam inhalation to help loosen thick mucus.
- regular nasal rinses.
- avoid heavy, slimy and acidic food, curd, mustard oil, excess physical exertion, sunlight-dust areas, exposure to strong winds, day sleeping, smoking, potato, green leafy vegetables. Cold water/food
- take old brown rice, soup of moong dal, black grapes, cow’s or goat milk, garlic, lukewarm water to drink, black pepper, dried ginger, honey.

The OTC [over the counter] decongestant available are phenylephrine and pseudoephedrine, and other forms of decongestant are prescribed drugs thus consult with your primary care provider.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Munish Sood
