How Can Chronic Cough And Pain In The Rib Cage Be Treated?

Chronic hacking/barking cough w//sinus infection since 967. Went to health care provider on 9/7-given guifinessin w/codiene, (cough), ibuprofen (pain/fever), sudafed. Went back on 9/8 given Tramadol for pain, went back on 9/11, swab(nasal), chest xrays, blood work ordered. I was switched to musinex as I expressed a concern with the codiene and haven t taken the Tramadaol since that second day of intenst coughing causing painful ribs. I am awaiting results. Currently, I can t get any real sleep as I wait up hacking and barking. Longest period I have gone without coughing is 10 minutes right after cough med. I am concerned as well as tired and not pleased with the way my head hurts now.

Dry hacking cough &sinus problem over a long period primarily seems to be due to allergy.But looking at the severity of symptoms &it's long duration ... I wouls suggwst to get fully examined&investigated (blood counts, allergy screening test,sputum examination ,×ray chest )to know all thedetails of your problem gollowed by specific treatment &antibiotic as per need.
A sifficient treatment,avoiding allergens &having healthy life style would be theproper management.
For expert advise please consult a chest specialist
