How Can Chronic Cough And Post Nasal Drip Be Treated?
I have chronic cough for many years now and post nasal drip. I saw 3 ear nose throat doctors and the last one prescribed amitriptyline which is an anti depressant w the side effect of muscle relaxant. It helps a little but not much. I also saw a gastroenterologist who said I have acid reflux and only recommend meds as needed. Someone suggested I go to an allergy Doctor. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Due to the chronic cough I also have halitosis.
Post nasal drip may be due to allergy or due to infection. Use water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling, avoid the allergen. Avoid cool drinks and freeze water consumption.
Use tablet alday dc twice a day for five days, Rexidine mouthwashes thrice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved, please consult your doctor ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
