How Can Chronic Cough Be Treated While Suffering From Pulmonary Fibrosis?

Hello Dr. Rynne, My name is Lyall Sailor. My mother was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in May 2016. She has been treated by a pulmonologist in Fairhope, AL where she lives who was recently institutionalized. There are no talented pulmonologists in her area, so at this time she is not being treated for this condition. She is still receiving home oxygen therapy per the institutionalized doctor s prescription but she has recently developed a nagging cough. If you were me, would you take her to UAB, Oschner, or Piedmont Hospitals or do you think it is possible to find a talented pulmonologist near Mobile, AL? Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It seems like chronic respiratory tract infection.

Don't eat commercial products, spicy and fried food, ice creams, chocolate and pastries. Eat healthy food. You can take Cefadroxil, Omeprazole and Theo-Asthalin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
