How Can Chronic Cough Be Treated?

Hi my 4 year old has persistent coughing past few nights to.point of vomiting. Usually only at night and is affecting her.sleep. Tried over counter cough syrup and viks on feet but no relief. At asthma clinic today and peak flow meter blowing at 150 which is apparently good. Blue and brown inhalers plus clarityn daily is doing nothing to alleviate it. Would.piriton help?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Piriton is an anthistamine, most cough and cold meds have antihistamines as part of their mix.
If this did not help before then it may not help decrease the coughing now.

He may need an increase in his reliever medications though the peak flow as okay. Persistent coughing is often related to some closure of the airways.

He may also need a short course of steroids to reduce the inflammation in the airways.

I hope this helps
