How Can Chronic Cough Be Treated?

I have had a cough for at least three years that is getting a bit worse. People pass cough drops to me on a regular basis. I cough up a bit of phlegm but then it seems to clear out the issue and i m okay for a while. Bowing my head, sitting back in a chair, or lying down will cause a coughing fit, but after coughing a bit it seems to clear out the phlegm and i m ok again. It seems like it s a post-nasal drip but it seems I m coughing up more than drips. I will also at times get into a coughing fit that doesn t seem started by changing posture, that will end in a big sneeze and then i m totally fine again. Any ideas about what is going on? Thank you! (i am a 64 yr old female)

anti allergic non sedating like loratidine, fexofenadine
