How Can Chronic Cough Be Treated?

I ve had a cough since Wed of last week. Had a routine visit with my dr on Fri and he told me to try delsym. That didn t help so I called Mon and got a prescription for benzonatate 200mg. That is not helping much either. Is there anything else I can do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this -

1)Discuss with your treating Doctor about cough syrup containing [levocetirizine & ambroxol]

2)Do check your differential count of blood and if antibiotic requires then take a full course as per your doctor's advice.

You can take few preventing steps like this -

1)Try to avoid cigarette smoke.

2)Get vaccinated for flu & pneumonia.

3)Wash your hands. To reduce your risk of catching a viral infection, wash your hands frequently and get in the habit of using instant hand sanitizers.

4)Wear a surgical mask when going outside

Hope that helps
