How Can Chronic Cough Be Treated?

My pantoprazole isn t calming my cough. I had a bad flare-up of gerd when I ran out of medicine for 5 days. I have been back on it for 8 days and still coughing. I am tired because I can t sleep. Been sleeping I n recliner for a week. Thinking about taking an over the counter med with the pantoprazole until it is back under control. Any suggestions? Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your suffering from gastritis with larygopharyngeal reflux. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid spicy food and alcohol avoid smoking and caffeine drinks. Head end elevation, take small quantity food with increased frequency. Use tablet nexium before breakfast for one week. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will do endoscopies and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
