How Can Chronic Cough Be Treated?

I have been coughing now for 5 weeks. I went to a walk-in clinic - was given some meds (Prednisone, an inhaler, cough medicine that did nothing, etc.) and I m still coughing every day 5 weeks later. I am taking cough suppressant - but it s not getting rid of the cough. I also had a sharp pain in my side the past few days - thought it might be from all of my coughing - but someone said it could be pleurisy??? Just wondering if I should go back to another clinic - I do not have a primary care - just moved and still looking for one.

history of ur complaint is not full.... do u have expectoration during cough..
colour of sputum?
is it thick?
watery? and yes its been 5 weeks.
if its a dry cough dont worry it may be due to allergies
start avil25mg morning dose.

If u have cough with expectoration u have to check for sputum examination since its been 5 weeks and tuberculosis s most common in india
start an antibiotic
amoxyclav 625mg bd
pan40 once a day
ascoril Dx 10ml tds
