Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a dry hacking cough since early december with some mild pain in the left side of my chest I saw my primary MD last week he ordered a chest X Ray as well as a CT Scan. Told me there was a haze mass in my left lung I have been short of breath he ordered for me to have brocoletome I know I misspelled that . Where they go down in my lung and take a look is it really necessary for me to have to do this or will this crap eventually go away. I just dont want to be knocked out and a tube stuck down my nose. My E-Mail is YYYY@YYYY
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
In the light of the X-ray finding confirmed by a CT scan . It becomes extremely important to go for brochoscopy, where a tube with a camera is allowed to get through your air way. You are right , it's an invasive procedure and looks a bit horrible and uncomfortable. But inspite of all these possibilities, this test is most of the times uneventful and as smoothly done by expert hands.
Most of the times it just takes a few minutes and does not cause any major problem. I hope it would be a smooth process.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
