Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My baby is 4 months old..she was having cough one month before n was nobilised..after that she has stomach infection..she was given walamycin...after that again there was some congestion..doc prescribed kofarest pd drops..now again she is having cough.. should I give kofarest again..is kofarest an antibiotic?? She is not feeding while awake..n feeding while sleeping only which has reduced now..m worried pls help..
dear I understand your concern for the little one.First of all kofarest pd is a antitussive or anti cough agent.Walamycin is a antibiotic for the gastro intestinal problem. Feeding during night time suggest the baby may be having some pain in throat also. Had I been the treating doctor I would have advised for an azithral oral drop as the antibiotic. more over a regular clinical examination with certain investigations are a must at this age as babies progress very soon to more chest infection. Hope this helps most welcome for further queries.
