hello doc, i am 47 suffering from chronic dandruff that spread in my head and neck..i have used many different anti dandruff creams with no major results, i have also used some tabs such as kenicotazone tabs, griseofulvin tabs, etc. After shower my skin becomes too dry around neck and face, like powder. Please advise what is the best medication for this skin condition.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Dandruff is a kind of fungal infection and shows good response to anti fungals. It is better to shave your head before commencing the treatment. Shave your head clean and apply Ketoconazole lotion on every day. Also take oral antifunagl like Fluconazole. Do not stop the treatment and continue it for complete six months. If persist despite all these, consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks.
