How Can Chronic Vestibular Neuritis Be Treated?

HI, I have a chronic inner ear imbalance disorder that is not treatable by the Epley maneuver. It was from a brain concussion and I ve had it for 20 years. I feel like i m on a boat, get head aches, and have a general fuzzy feeling in my head. I hear perfectly. Are there any treatments or medication you can prescribe? Thank you

Hello,

As per your clinical history, is concerned please follow like this-

1) Do a clinical examination by your doctor [Neurologist] and do an MRI scan to know the current status and rule out other pathology.

2) Discuss with your doctor about [Amitriptyline] and you need to take it regularly.

3) Do regular exercise[Epley maneuver] as usual.

Do follow preventive steps like this to prevent post-concussion syndrome-

1) Fasten your seat belt whenever you are traveling in a car.

2) Use helmets whenever you or your children are bicycling, roller-skating, in-line skating, ice-skating, skiing, snowboarding, playing football, batting or running the bases in softball or baseball, skateboarding, or horseback riding.

3) Take steps around the house to prevent falls such as improving lighting and installing handrails.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
