How Can Chronic Vomiting Be Treated?

My husband has been vomiting fluids for the past 5 hours. He thinks there is a piece of beef stuck in his throat or esophagus. He cannot take his prescription pain medicines due to vomiting. We called St Vincent Hospital and they didn t know what they would be able to do to help him now. He has had upper endoscopes in the past. He had Malignant Chordoma of the spine and has titanium rods and cage supporting his spine. The pain is awful. Please tell us what our best course of action is.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

He may be suffering from esophagitis or post foreign body induced erythema of mucosa etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

He may need upper GI scopy to confirm the presence of bowel obstruction.

Please consult your gastroenterologist, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
