How Can Cold And Cough Be Treated?

My husband and I returned via transcontinental flight to Connecticut from San Francisco on Sunday...we both have caught a cold with a guttural cough...but my husband,s sputum has blood in it ...while I’m clear,...my husband did have two lobes of his lungs removed due to a fungeral ball infection seven years ago and is on nocturnal supplemental O2...no temperature and no other serious out of the ordinary symptoms but I’m having trouble convincing him to go have it checked out....any thoughts to help me convince him?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Blood in the sputum need to be investigated. It may be a less serious condition. Since, he had the lobe removed, it is better to see the physician and check if the blood discharge is persistent.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
