General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It usually takes less than 2 weeks for a cold to resolve though some persons have a lingering cough for 6 weeks. This is called post viral or post infectious cough and it does not respond to antibiotics.

It is possible, since the symptoms are similar, that you may have a combination of allergic sinusitis or rhinitis along with the cold.

You can use a pain medication such as Naproxen or Indomethacin for the pain in your toe while you wait for the antibiotic course to be completed

I hope this helps
