How Can Cold And Cough During Pregnancy Be Treated?
I am about 10 weeks pregnant and have developed a cold/cough/sore throat and fever ... what cold medications are safe for me to take? I took a small amount of theraflu but am worried I shouldn’t have. My symptoms seem to be getting to worse and everything I have read says basically nothing is safe to take during pregnancy. Is there anything I can do or take for relief?
It is usually best to avoid any medication in a pregnancy. This is because the baby is easily affected by medication and this can affect the growth of the baby.
In case the symptoms are not too severe, one can try the following - Take warm showers Sleep more than 8 hours a day Get lots of rest Drink lots of water Eat high energy foods Taking warm showers
In case the symptoms persist more than 3 days, seeing a doctor would be a good idea as the infection can spread to the baby and may complicate the pregnancy.
I hope this helps. Please reach out to me if you have any other questions.
