How Can Conception Date Be Calculated?

hi!i got my last menstural period on 25th march 2016 and i did the scan on the 14th of april 2016 which did show that i had an ovarian cyst in my left ovary and it did show that i had a thickened uterus lining by that time,a week later i did a pregnancy test which by then was positive.Could there have been a confusion between pregnancy and the cyst and what are the possible dates that i might have conceived.

Hello,

An ovarian cyst in the ultrasound is not an explicit sign of ovulation. Normally if your periods were on March 25th, and your cycle is around 28 days long, you were expected to ovulate around April 9th and possibly a pregnancy test would show positive at least 2 weeks after, which is around April 23rd.
You had a positive test around April 23rd which is pretty close to the time calculated above.

So it is very likely you are pregnant. If in doubt, you may repeat the test and if it is repeatedly positive, it is confirmatory.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,

Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician.
