Hello Doctor, I am a 51-year-old female who has been on 400 mg of Plaquenil for the better part of 9 years. Official diagnosis at this time is undifferentiated connective tissue disease/disorder, with the thought that it is most likely SLE. The Plaquenil has been helpful with the stiffness and soreness of joints. However, I am experiencing burning sensations on my skin, with a red rash that develops on my chest and neck. The sensation is like gasoline has been poured on my body and a match struck and I ve been ignited. I have been on prednisone (20 or 25 mg for 14-20 days - approximately) and that was in June of 2014. I m currently in a really bad flare with the burning sensation, fever, headaches, exhaustion, dizziness, weakness. I will be seeing my rheumotologist on Monday. Can you suggest some additional or alternative medications that may help get my flare under control? Thank you, Stephanie G.
