Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a headache for about 3 months. It is on the very top of my head. I have had CAT scans, various MRIs, blood work and many neurologists appoinments in the past two months. They have prescribed many headache pain killers, muscle relaxants and preventative meds but nothing brings relief. I have always taken Excedrin Migraine pills for years and they seem to bring temporary relief throughout the day. The dr. has just suggested getting intravenous steroids for pain. Is this a helpful procedure?
Your symptoms seem to be related to primary headache (tension type of migraine). For this reason, I would like to know the medications that you have used in the past, in order to be able to give a more professional opinion.
Regarding steroids, they should be given only in case of temporal arteritis or inflammatory headaches, which do not seem to be your case (based on your description of your headache). I remain at your disposal for any further questions whenever you need!
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
Cardiologist
