How Can Constipation In An Infant Be Treated?

My 8 week old baby has not had a messy diaper in 5 days. She is exclusively breastfed and normally has a fully messy diaper daily. She has many very wet diapers, but no poop. She is very uncomfortable and can hardly rest. We ve tried a warm bath, rectal thermometer, massaging her tummy, bicycle kicks, and gripe water. What can I do for her?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Breast milk is the best for babies, so congrats on that.

You may need to look at your diet to see if there are any changes that could influence affect the baby since she has no other source of food.

If the constipation continues, it would be best to take her to see her doctor for an assessment.
She may need a laxative such as a baby suppository, if there is no improvement.
This is only if her doctor thinks it is necessary

I hope this helps
