How Can Cough And Backache Be Treated?

I ve had cold symptoms for a couple weeks. I thought I was getting better, but still have a cough. The past few days my back has been hurting - mostly muscular, I think. It is noticeable when I cough and take a deep breath. I m still blowing my nose some - mostly clear and I m not really coughing up phlem. My concern is I don t want the cold to go into pneumonia and not know it. I also seem to cough more at night and when I lay down. My back is noticeably painful when I lay on my back.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Bronchitis can be the most likely reason. Better to get it examined by a physician preferably respiratory physician.

Taking a short course of antibiotics, antihistamines and bronchodilators will be helpful. If not helping, then a short course of corticosteroids like Deflazacort will be required also.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nishad BN
