Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Good afternoon, I have had a cough for about two weeks. It is a dry cough, not very productive, comes on suddenly. Sounds worse than I feel. ( I feel well) I was hoarse yesterday. Last week, I had head congestion; at that time, the pollen count was at 885ppm. No fever, loss of voice. Thank you
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It sounds like you have allergic bronchitis. Do you regularly have this response to pollen? Take an anti histaminic like cetrizine or hydroxizine for the next few days.
One tablet at night should help clear the cough. Additionally, you could use an oxymetazoline spray to help decongest your nose and sinuses.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
