How Can Cough And Wheezing Be Treated?

my wife has had a cough since May. She has twice got a full blown cold during this time. Last cough turned in to what they thought was bronchitis. She got over most of the symptoms but the cough has never left. It is mostly at night time. This last cold is in her lungs now and I can her what sounds like whining in her lungs. I m afraid the Doctors aren t helping. She is not a smoker. Any suggestions

Hi.

That's a good question. Thanks for writing to HCM.

Based on what you have mentioned, here are a few things one can try -
- Gargle with warm salt water
- Take warm showers
- Use ginger lozenge or cough drops
- Use over the counter cough syrup
- Drink lots of water
- Sleep well

Along with this, taking a spirometry examination from the doctor to determine the exact type of bronchitis may be useful as well. I hope this helps you!

All the best.
