Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Cough And Wheezing While Suffering From Asthma Be Treated?
I have been diagnosed with asthma, but the doctor said that it is unclear if I have asthma because I had a borderline positive Methacholine test, and a normal spirometry. still experiencing coughing, and wheezing. I was prescribed two inhalers, one symbicort, the other albuterol
It might be good to have a chest xray as well to rule out other conditions of the lungs. If the chest xray is normal then I would advise you to go on with the treatment for asthma and have it regularly. Normally you should see your doctor in 2-3 weeks after starting treatment so he can check your lungs and make sure the treatment is effective or not. If you notice no improvement in a week or you notice any worsening you will need to see your doctor earlier.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
