How Can Cylindrical Power In The Right Eye Be Reduced?

My son 5.5 years has been diagndiagnosed with cylindrical power of -2.5 in right eye and -3 on left eye axis 180 for both. His cornea is not like sphere instead it s like an egg shape, flat on one side. Doctor said Anatolia and what I checked on internet it says Astigmatism. How are both different and same? Doctor has asked to wear specs all the time. And he said this will be lifelong. Kindly explain what can be done. Does the shape of cornea changes with time?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

He may be having astigmatism.

He can go for a laser treatment so that glasses are not required anymore. But the laser procedure can be done only after eighteen years of age. As of now, he has to wear glasses or contact lenses.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
